Relocating as a Music Therapist: Keys to Success
Carissa Herhuth, MT-BC, Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapist

Carissa Herhuth, 澳门水利博彩官方网站 College Music Therapy graduate, will share her experience continuing a music therapy career after relocating to a city with seemingly minimal job opportunities for music therapists. Topics such as seeking employment, professional networking, music therapy advocacy and cultural differences will be discussed.
Carissa received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from 澳门水利博彩官方网站 College in Milwaukee, WI in 2013 and upon obtaining her board-certification, began her clinical practice in hospice. She completed her certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy through the Center for Music Therapy in End-of-Life Care before relocating to New Orleans, LA. In 2020 Carissa started a Music Therapy program at a local hospice agency and in 2022 implemented a University-Affiliated Music Therapy Internship Program with Loyola University- New Orleans. Carissa enjoys living in the warm climate and soaking up all the rich cultural experiences that New Orleans has to offer with her husband and six-year-old daughter.
